Um Yeah

So I guess I’m kinda between projects now, and I don’t see this comic restarting, on this site at least, within the near future. I have a bunch of ideas and other stuff going on though so stay tuned for more information on new comics coming eventually.

Augh!

Sorry, I missed another update!

I’m far too busy to keep on top of this in addition to my schoolwork and other obligations, so I feel like the best thing to do is just go on hiatus for a few weeks until school is out and I can get caught back up with the comic. I have big awesome new ideas, just not enough time to do anything with them, I promise!

As you may already know, many major websites, webcomics, blogs, and other internet resources are blacking out in protest of two pieces of American internet legislation, SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act), that would heavily regulate the content of websites. I am not tech-savvy enough to black out The Quill News, so I wrote a lil’ rant instead.

SOPA and PIPA, if implemented would just prove to be arbitrary and draconian laws hindering the intellectual and creative capabilities of the internet without actually blocking copyrighted contentent or cutting off sources from which copyrighted content can be accessed. Thus the ability to knock out sites deemed to be in violation of these two acts (should they be passed) would be in the hands of more or less the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) acting as sort of “creativity police” in the name of protecting copyrighted material.

These two pieces of legislation are horribly dangerous to all of our freedoms of speech and the livelihood of many people who work for internet-based companies. At the end of the day, SOPA and PIPA don’t protect anything, they just drop obscene amounts of power into the hands of a few lobbyists that can (and will) be abused to censor free speech and free creativity on the internet.

If you are interested in keeping the internet free and open, I would highly suggest getting in contact with your friendly local representative in government and tell them that SOPA and PIPA are horrible ideas and internet freedom is the x-treme thing for kool kongresspeople.

I JUST WANTED TO DRAW CHEESECAKE OKAY

But on a more serious note, I really hate to have to do this, but due to my busy schedule, starting next week (1/2/12), I’m cutting back the frequency of comic updates to twice a week. New comics will come out on Mondays and Thursdays. I’m pretty bummed that I have to do this, but it’s in the better interest of the “quality” of the comics and my sanity in general. Hopefully I’ll be able to up the release schedule in a few months when I’m less busy over summer. Thanks for your readership and understanding! See ya on Mondays and Thursdays!

“I Fell in Love With the Lucky Charms Guy!” A minicomic about the desire of desire that I did for my Feminist Studies class. There’s also like a five page paper that goes along with it that I might put up eventually but yeah. Read the comic at: https://thequillnews.wordpress.com/media/desire/!

Sorry about the week of super-minimalist comics. I’m not sure how that happened. Anyway, prepare for MAD DETAIL and MAD BACKGROUNDS next week and possibly beyond.

Man, this one was really hard. I had to draw out the full room and everything, then colour it all black.
